What Zion Christian Church’s Disciples Men Is All About President - Ron Holt Vice President- position open Treasurer- Sam Moss Our purpose is to provide fellowship opportunities in which men can serve, learn, worship and play together as they continue to grow in faith and participation in the life of the church. Our men meet on the second Saturday of each month at 8:00 AM. One of our members prepares breakfast for everyone. After breakfast we conduct the business portion of our meeting. Sometimes we schedule some sort of work day after the meeting. We have fundraising events so we will have the capital needed to help with our church, community and beyond. Our men are always willing to physically help with chores around the church or help church members and neighbors with projects around their homes. There is an annual "Men’s Retreat" that many of us participate in. It is very relaxing and inspirational.
Some of our projects in the past couple of years have been the following: For our church: purchased gifts from Santa for the children, installed a sidewalk at the parsonage, mulched and did a general cleanup around the church yard, and sponsored some Wednesday night fellowship dinners. For our church members: cut trees and shrubs, split fire wood, repaired a garage door and even installed some carpet. For the Community: adopted a family for Christmas, adopted a family for Thanksgiving, served Easter breakfast for the entire community, served free lemonade at the Fourth of July parade, washed windows for members of our community, sponsored a needy family from Hanover County of Social Services during the Holidays, sponsored children to play sports with the Beaverdam Youth League, Inc., and sponsored the local Boy Scout troop. For beyond our church and community: monetary support for "Souper" Bowl Sunday program, Craig Springs Special Camp, trip to Bogota, Columbia, "Coins for Tomorrow" program, the "Shoe Fund" mission project, and the YMCA’s "Bright Beginnings" program. For the Zion Christian Center: painted the interior, installed a TV antenna, installed a community bulletin board at the road, replaced the cabinet doors and glass, general clean up, replaced the kitchen faucet, installed a coat rack, and purchased items needed in the kitchen. As you can see . . . Zion Christian Church’s Disciples Men is alive and busy! The men of Zion would like to welcome you to the community and invite you to join our caring, loving church family.
